Ceremony of Achievement 2007

The 3rd South Australian Nursing and Midwifery cohort of the Clinical Leadership Programme in Australia™ completed and celebrated with a Ceremony of Achievement in April 2007. We were delighted to have a number of guest speakers join us for this important event.
The Hon. John Hill MP, Minister for Health, Minster for the Southern Suburbs, Minster Assisting the Premier in the Arts, addressed the audience highlighting the importance of leadership in the current health care climate and the role that the Clinical Leadership Programme has played in helping nurses and midwives become leaders or better leaders. Adj. Professor Jenny Beutel, the Chief Nurse, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Office in addition to awarding the Local Facilitators and Clinical Leaders with their certificates of achievement, confirmed her support for the Programme and spoke of the need for clinicians to work together and the need for leadership to result in sustainable improvements in health care.
We also were privileged to hear from three Clinical Leaders about their personal and professional experiences of the Programme. Caroline Stewart, Heather Broadbent and Jamie Herrick each captured a different perspective of the impact of the Programme across the wider spectrum. Each spoke about what it meant to them, to others, their teams, their organisations, and to the people who receive care. Their messages were a strong and clear reminder that leadership makes a difference.
The Ceremony of Achievement also provided an opportunity to thank the participants and in particular the Local Facilitators, for their commitment to and enthusiasm for the Programme and also to thank the Directors of Nursing and Midwifery and the Health Units across the State that have supported nurses and midwives to undertake the Clinical Leadership Programme in Australia™.
